On Thursday 3rd March the Year 12 AS Geography class went to Juniper Hall Field Studies Centre, near Dorking in Surrey. We had a very early start in the morning – 7.30am! We drove by minibus to the centre and then spent the day studying the River Tillingbourne. The students were investigating how different variables change with distance from the source of the river. These variables included river width and depth, the speed of the water flow and the gradient of the river. This involved standing in the cold river water! The students worked very efficiently and competently. They wrote up what they had done and this material is then used to answer questions in their skills exams, at both AS and A level.
