All of the Junior girls were lucky enough to be able to participate in a scent and smelling based workshop, run by the Fragrance Foundation, entitled Marty the Mighty Nose. Lizzie, from the foundation, taught children how to use the least developed of their senses through a variety of fun activities, including describing the smell of old blue cheese; trying to taste without smelling and identifying mystery smells. The girls then had to use adjectives and similes to describe the smells they experienced. Key Stage 2 girls will now have an opportunity to take part in a poetry writing competition, centred on the sense of smell. Our thanks go to Lizzie and to Dr Swingle-Putland for organising such a fun event.
