Year 9 Visit to the Sheep Centre
Friday 27 March 2015
On Friday 25 March the Year 9 Geography class visited the Sheep Centre at East Dean to support the unit of work studied over the past few weeks. The students had been thinking about various issues concerning food production such as food miles,
calories consumed in different areas of the world, meat versus non-meat diets and battery chickens. The students had a two hour tour and learnt about the history of the farm, which dates back to the 1600s. They also found out about sheep and how they are farmed. A highlight was bottle feeding the day old triplets whose mother was unable to look after them. Information was also gained concerning many other farm animals including pigs.
