Year 4 Junior Enterprise Competition
Friday 9 October 2015
Last Monday, Year 4 represented Moira House in the Junior Enterprise competition, an event hosted each year by the Eastbourne Education Business Partnership, closely supported by the Chalvington group. They returned to School “victorious champions”, making this the third time that Moira House has won the competition in the 5 years it has been running!
The event aims for students to have the opportunity to show co-operation, work to a deadline and demonstrate entrepreneurial initiative.
This year, the girls were set the task of planning an evening event to celebrate the 30th birthday of Eastbourne Education Business Partnership, based around a theme of their choice. Settling on a beach party idea, the girls in Year 4 researched a wide range of entertainment acts (taking note of cost), designed their own party posters and invitations and produced a mock finance sheet to compare costs and income from theoretical ticket sales and fundraising ideas they had. The day concluded with a team presentation of their work to the other schools and judges.
The Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council, Cllr David Tutt, was present together with a number of business volunteers including Barclays Bank. Teams competed for the Junior Enterprise Trophy, kindly sponsored by Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce.
