The Sun Shines on Sports Day
Friday 14 June 2019
We welcomed in the half term with our annual Sports Day. This year the Senior School started off the day over on New Field, using the Quad athletics format. Girls from across Years 7 to 10 took part in the four events; Shot Putt, 80m Sprint, Standing Long Jump and 600m for their Pyramids. For each event the girls were awarded points which were then combined to give them a total Quadrathon score. The winners for each event, in each year group, received a medal and the Quadrathon Champion for each year group received a shield to keep.

There were some outstanding performances across the senior school and the results were very close, separated by only a few points. Merlin won in Year 7, followed by Pegasus in Year 8, Vulcan in Year 9 and Excalibur in Year 10.
After lunch the Juniors took to the field and showed great enthusiasm and energy: the Pre-Prep performed their nursery rhyme races, and the Prep worked through their relays and individual events. Again there were some outstanding performances across the school, with the girls all showing a can-do attitude and that everyone in their Pyramid – and across the junior school – matters. The results were also close for the Juniors, with Excalibur again coming in first place, followed by Pegasus, Vulcan and then Merlin.
The day finished with an afternoon tea for the Whole School and the Senior School relay races, to give the Overall winning Pyramid. Excalibur stole the show, crowned 2019 Sports Day Champions! Well done to all of the girls and we look forward to sharing a selection of the photos with you on Founders Day. Many thanks to all of the parents who came along to support the girls and the school, as well as the RMHA who rewarded the girls for their hard work with an ice lolly and provided the girls with some much needed cooling down! A big thank you also to the Year 12 CAP students, Sports Crew and whole school staff for their help and support on the day.
