Moira House Junior School girls have got through to the next round of the East Sussex Primary Schools Swimming Championships after swimming at the K2 in Crawley, last week. Chloe Hughes, Chloe Cory, Jessica Brialey, Tahlia Winn and Isabel Loubser were entered into the small schools freestyle and mixed stroke relays and had to swim against five schools in their division. They now go through to the regional rounds in Southampton at the beginning of May to compete against the next ten fastest teams from Hampshire and Dorset, and of course Sussex. The girls swam to the best of their abilities and exceeded expectations by finishing second and gaining a silver medal in the 4 x 25m freestyle relay in a time of 1.07.47, which was 0.5 of a second behind their rivals Battle Abbey. However, the race of the afternoon was in the 4 x 25m mixed stroke relay in which they won and gained a gold medal in a time of 1.14.68, a massive 1.5 seconds faster than Battle Abbey. All five girls swam with determination and a real desire to win and to get through to the next round, which is exactly what they did!
