Moira House Junior School’s Fashion Show is a “runway” success!

Monday 28 March 2011

Girls from Moira House Junior School took to the catwalk on Friday (25 March) and wowed their audience in a sell-out Fashion Show.

The show, which was a fund-raising event for the School, was thoroughly enjoyed by an audience of over 80 parents and visitors.  Swann Hall was transformed for the evening, complete with a catwalk.

All the girls from the Junior School, from age 5 through to 11, took part and modelled outfits generously donated for the night by local businesses.  The young budding Claudia Schiffers and Jodie Kidds enjoyed dressing up and strutting their way down the catwalk.

Girls from Years 3 and 4, who have been looking at Recycling as a project this term, modelled outfits that they had fashioned from old clothes and thrown away items.  Raphy McDavitt-Lowe, Year 6, modelled her own design which had been made out of old School Tea Towels

Head of the Junior School, Mrs Linda Young, said: “The Fashion Show was a very exciting event and its success is due to the tremendous support received.  We must in particular thank the parents who helped organise the event and make it such a memorable occasion.  We must give special thanks to Breeze Flowers, Cambridge & Co, Jofoto and Funky Viking, and also to the numerous local businesses who donated raffle prizes.

“I am so proud of the girls and their enthusiasm.  I enjoyed in particular seeing the recycled outfits that some of the girls had made, it’s certainly important to recycle and reuse as much as we can.”
