The Moira House Girls School Equestrian Team was out in force this week, competing in Sussex and Kent against School Teams from the South of England Region.
The Inter-Schools Show Jumping event at Golden Cross on 21 saw Flora Alessandroni score a notable win in the 75 cm Scurry, seeing off some very fast competition with a blistering clear round in 35 seconds. Flora claimed another rosette in the 85 cm Scurry, coming eighth with a well ridden, fast clear round. Phoebe Watson was back in action with a new pony and rode a good, confident clear round in the 75 cm Scurry, finishing just out of the placings. She rolled two poles in the 85 cm Scurry, but the partnership looks solid for the coming Inter-Schools season.
It was over to Kent on 23 February for Halle Wilkins who raised her game and competed at a higher level in the Inter-Schools Show at Duckhurst Farm. Halle was unlucky to finish just out of the rosettes with a very fast clear round in a time of 29 seconds. Only three seconds separated first to sixth places in a highly contested class. Moira House can certainly look forward to a full Inter-Schools Equestrian schedule of competitions this year.
