ESSA Swimming Success

Thursday 28 June 2012

Five of our girls, Tahlia Winn, Jessica Brialey, Emily Davison, Isabel Loubser and Abbie Ring all took part in the Regional round for the Junior Schools Relays in the English Schools Swimming Association (ESSA) recently in Southampton.  The girls were placed ninth out of 24 teams on the day, following the first round back in March held at the K2 in Crawley, for the 4 x 25 m Mixed Stroke Relay and after Tahlia who swam a personal best time for her 25 m Backstroke, Emily swam 25 m Breaststroke, Isabel 25 m Freestyle and Jessica on the last leg of Freestyle, winning their heat by three seconds and putting them in second position going into the final and coming away with a place at the National Finals in Sheffield in June.  Going into the 4 x 25 m Freestyle Relay from the first round they had top seed and after their heat they were placed fourth - Tahlia swam first with an excellent start, Abbie swam next achieving a personal best time, Isabel swam the third leg of the Relay followed by Jessica.  Entering the final in fourth place they needed to move up a place which is exactly what they did.  Both Tahlia and Isabel achieved another personal best time and with a good couple of take overs they gained third place and another space at the National Finals.  A superb day out led to an excellent result which both the parents and Head of Swimming, Claire Bryant, were ecstatic about.
