Singing Success for Moira House girls
- Juniors
Wednesday 25 April 2012
Girls from our Junior Chamber Choir hit all the right notes when they reached the Finals of the Barnardo’s National Choir Competition held recently at the prestigious Barbican Concert Hall in London.
From the many entries received from Schools across the country for the Competition, the Junior Chamber Choir from Moira House were excited to be one of the 18 School Choirs in the “12 and under” age group selected to perform in the finals at the Barbican. The panel of judges was chaired by Douglas Coombes, the Conductor for the BBC’s Songs of Praise School Choir Competition.
Moira House girls from Years 4, 5 and 6 travelled to London with their Head of Music, Mr Martin Neill and teachers to perform two songs in the Competition. Their unaccompanied singing impressed both the judges and audience who showed their appreciation in their applause.
Year 6 student, Helen Grout, said: “We had a great day and we all really enjoyed it.”
The event raised substantial funds for Barnardo’s, the largest children’s charity in the UK which cares for over 100,000 children, young people and families each year.
