The Foundation Stage Curriculum and National Curriculum guide the teachers in the content of the children’s learning, and are at the heart of the teaching programme. However, they have been creatively developed to foster excellence throughout, and to particularly ensure high expectations in all areas.

The children receive a full-time supervised education which gives them the experience in linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human and social, physical, and aesthetic and creative education.

The subject matter is appropriate for the ages and aptitudes of the children, including those children with learning difficulties or whose principal language is not English.

There is adequate preparation of children for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.

Learning Journeys - In the Pre Prep children’s learning is often based around a theme and may include several curriculum areas. This makes the study more interesting for the children. A wide variety of skills can be employed to explore a chosen theme, with opportunities provided for development across different curriculum areas.

While thematic topics vary from term to term the core skills of Literacy, Numeracy, Science and ICT are taught consistently throughout the year in all year groups. Our system of planning ensures that skills, knowledge and understanding are developed through a careful programme of progressive acquisition. All lessons are fully differentiated to meet the learning needs of each individual child.

Swimming, Drama, PE, Music and French are taught by specialist teachers.
