EQUESTRIAN CENTRE OPENING AND OPEN DAY
Last Saturday, we had the most beautiful day to hold our Open Day and the Official Opening of the new Equestrian Centre.
We welcomed over 100 guests to school during Saturday morning, all of whom listened to some heart-felt speeches from the girls about their own journeys at Moira House. They was a steady stream of visitors touring the school site and we have received extremely complimentary feedback from our visitors.
After lunch, we were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Mrs Pat Hearn and Old Girl, Gemma Tattersall, freshly returned from the Rio Olympic Games to open the Equestrian Centre.
Gemma said “Moira House was always incredibly supportive of my equestrian pursuits as a student, allowing me time to compete during the school day was so beneficial in my career development”. Gemma brought her Rio competition horse, Quicklook (stable name of Pebbles) and a home-bred horse that she is training in preparation for the next Olympics in Tokyo, Chilli’s Gem (stable name of Roo). Gemma was accompanied by her Mother, Marcelle Tattersall and Grandma, Mrs Pamela Smith. It was Gemma’s Grandpa, Roy Smith, who had originally designed the stables for Moira House some 20 years ago. Sadly he recently passed away and his family were extremely proud to see the dream come to fruition. During the afternoon, a very well-rehearsed group of former and current students performed a Musical Quadrille in the Sand School, which was followed by Gemma who gave an exquisite dressage demonstration.
