Entrance & admissions
Visiting Moira House Girls School is a crucial part of the process by which parents make the decision as to whether the School is suitable for their son or daughter. Both parents and their daughters are very welcome to visit the School, and are encouraged to do so. Some parents choose to make a first visit without their daughter. Sixth Form Entrants will usually be involved from the start.
Meeting the Head
All prospective pupils and their parents have the opportunity to meet the Principal, Mrs Lesley Watson. Prior to the visit we would encourage parents to send us recent school reports, any relevant examination results or predicted GCSE grades for Sixth Form entry.
We have the facility for International Students to talk to Mrs Watson via Skype. This is encouraged if parents are unable to visit the School or if they cannot meet personally with the Principal. All International Students are also asked to sit our English Test paper which will be sent to their agent. We will offer and accept students based on their level of English, but all pupils will be required to sit a second English test within the first week of joining the School to ensure that the provision provided is appropriate to a student’s needs.
Taster Days
All prospective day pupils are invited for a taster day when they will spend a full day integrating with their peers and experiencing the daily School timetable. This is one of the best ways of finding out what the School has to offer and a chance for any prospective student to gain a genuine insight into the day-to-day life of the School. Two current pupils will be assigned as escorts (buddies) throughout the day.
Registration
Registration is the final stage of the Admissions process and shows that parents are committed to accepting the offer of a place for their daughter at Moira House Girls School. Parents are invited to complete the registration form and pay a non-returnable fee of £50. An Acceptance of a Place form will then be sent along with an invoice requesting 50% of the first term's fees.
