International Summer School
The summer school programme is very well-balanced with English lessons in the mornings and sports and other activities, including drama, cookery, dance and arts and crafts, in the afternoons. Each evening there is a whole-school activity such as a talent show, disco or a themed night including Harry Potter or Sherlock Holmes themed evening. Students are also taken on visits to famous tourist attractions each week – a full day in London is always included, as well as the chance to visit places of cultural interest closer to school. Moira House has an excellent location, being within easy walking distance of the town centre and the beach and seafront.
Each summer boys and girls from over 25 different countries join International Summer School. The number of students who speak the same language is restricted so that English is the only common language and everyone is encouraged to speak it all times. We accept students of all abilities, from complete beginners in English to advanced learners. Class sizes are kept small – maximum 14 students – which ensures intensive and personal tuition.
Family Programme and Mini- Accordions Programme:Accord ISS also offers English language courses for the whole family at Moira House. Both parents and children from the age of 3 can join the course. Lessons take place in the morning leaving the family free to enjoy their afternoons in sunny Eastbourne.
Children aged 3-5 can enrol on the Mini- Accordions Programme which is a ‘play and learn’ programme specifically designed for the youngest students. Our teachers are experienced in teaching very young learners and use a teaching method to suit that age group.
Both children on the Family Programme and the Mini-Accordions Programme can enrol onto the afternoon activity programme suited to their age group.
Our summer school has grown increasingly popular and we have many returning students and staff each year. We want boys and girls to return home having been enriched by their experience, having made friends with others from all over the world and having improved their English skills. And having had great fun!
