Mr A J Pianca FCA
Andrew Pianca joined Crowe Clark Whitehill in 1977 and was appointed an Audit Partner in 1981, followed by senior roles in New Business, Strategic Planning and Not for Profit. In 2003 he was appointed Chief Executive, and in 2013 became Chairman until his retirement in 2016. He was also a Board member of Crowe Horwath International, and its international Chairman in 2013-14. As a leading specialist Not for Profit Audit and Advisory Partner, Andrew established the largest Not for Profit Group and, within it, the largest Schools and Education Team in any firm of accountants. He advised many independent schools and large national charities, wrote two books on charity financial management and reporting, and was financial adviser for the ISBA. Post retirement he continues to lecture and advise within this sector. Andrew is also Chairman of the ICAEW Chartered Accountants’ Trustees Limited, a governor of Epsom College and a trustee of the Chartered Accountants’ Livery Charity. Andrew will be Chair of Council at Moira House, and is a member of the Roedean School Council and Chair of the Finance Committee.
Ms J Barnard- Langston BA MA DipCouns JP
Jenny Barnard-Langston is a Justice of the Peace and former youth panel Chairman, as well as a professional family & couple Psychotherapist and Life Coach. She runs a training company developing company directors, trustees and improving governance. Jenny has thirty years’ experience of policy involvement in education provision in Brighton & Hove and East Sussex and served as Mayor of Brighton & Hove. She also serves as Chair of Governors to local Primary schools Jenny is designated by the DfE as National Leader of Governance, a systems leader to improve education standards and develop school to school support. In her National role Jenny designs and delivers training and external reviews of Governance on behalf of Local Authorities and direct to schools and colleges. Jenny is a member of the Roedean School Council, and sits on both the Awards and Risk & Compliance Groups, as well as being the Council Member for Safeguarding.
Mr P Henshaw BSc (Hons) MRICS
Patrick Henshaw qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in December 1994 and worked for a number of surveying practices throughout London before being made a Partner at Cushman & Wakefield. In 2011 Patrick formed his own Building Surveying practice, Stapleton Consulting Limited, based in Lewes dealing with works for a variety of commercial and residential clients throughout the UK. In his spare time, Patrick is a qualified RFU Coach for Lewes Rugby Club.
Ms A-M Martin MBE BSc MSc
Anne-Marie Martin has a BSc in Botany and MSc in Information Science. Anne-Marie worked in the Scientific Civil Service and a PR company before joining the University of London in 1983. In 2014, she was awarded an MBE for services to Higher Education for her work in Careers and Student Services. Now retired, she is still the Warden of the University’s Laurels, Treasurer of a children’s charity and Events Manager of her local Conservation Group. She maintains an interest in graduate employment. Anne-Marie is a member of the Roedean School Council with responsibility for boarding, as well as a member of the Education Committee.
Mrs C Nightingale BA MBA
Camilla Nightingale has more than 20 years’ experience in Marketing, PR and Digital, working for luxury retailers Tiffany & Co., Smythson and Monica Vinader. Camilla was Head Girl of Roedean. After leaving Roedean and graduating from the University of Exeter, Camilla continued her education and gained an MBA from Westminster. Camilla is a member of the Roedean School Council as well as a member of the Estates Committee and Development and Marketing Group.
Mrs T Outhwaite BA PGDip
Teresa Outhwaite is active across a broad local network and is committed to volunteering for local charities. For the last three years she has been Chair for The Friends of Windlesham School, overseeing fundraising initiatives and creating streamlined database systems. Teresa was an academic scholar at Roedean and on leaving went on to gain a BA in Fashion Textile Design with Business Studies, and a PGDip in Design History at University of Brighton. Following her education she has worked in the fashion industry and education in Brighton and Oxford. Teresa is a member of the Roedean School Council as well as a member of the Development and Marketing Group.
Mrs V Smiley BA
Vivien Smiley has a background in PR, public affairs and stakeholder relations. Since leaving Roedean and graduating from the University of Nottingham, she has worked in sport, higher education and the commercial sector. This includes time spent as Head of Communications for the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), where she also led bids for inward investment from the public sector. Vivien has a strong understanding of education policy and the private education market, with three young children at prep school on the Kent/Sussex border where she lives. She is a Trustee Board Member of Freedom Leisure, a not-for-profit trust, and a Governor of an Academy in the maintained sector. Vivien is a member of the Roedean School Council and a member of the Nominations and Governance Committee. Vivien is a member of the Nominations and Governance Committee.
Mr I Sperling-Tyler BSc FCCA
Ian Sperling-Tyler graduated with a BSc in Mathematics from Goldsmith’s College, London University in 1992 and qualified as an accountant in 1996. After several years working in the Information, Communication and Entertainment audit division of KPMG, Ian joined the London Corporate Finance department of Deloitte LLP in 1999. Ian subsequently became a partner of Deloitte LLP in 2010. Ian’s clients include private equity and corporates in the oil and gas industry such as BP, OMV, Carlyle and KKR. Ian advises clients on leverage buy-outs, acquisitions, disposals, capital raising on international stock exchanges and corporate restructuring. Ian is a parent of Moira House School and became a Trustee in April 2016.
